Although the Harry Potter series has concluded, it will surely continue to fascinate kids for generations to come. Along with the books and movies, the store, Whimsic Alley, is an essential part of any kid’s Harry Potter experience.
Designed as a store-within-a-store, (based on the shopping district where Harry Potter characters shop), Whimsic Alley is truly magical. The owner, Stan Goldin, a good friend of my dad and step-mom, was gracious enough to give me a tour of the store recently.
Whimsic Alley has everything a Harry Potter aficionado could want. Costumes, ties, a Harry Potter branded toy store, a bookstore, fairies, dragons, quill pens, a potions room, accessories, a hat shop and–the most popular store– a wand making shop, where more than 50 types of Harry Potter wands are created. The vibe is magical, friendly and completely captivating.
Birthday Parties are extremely popular at Whimsic Alley. The party room is large and designed to replicate a Harry Potter location. The store will create gorgeous custom invitations for your child’s party. There are a variety of party options, including a basic party, The Warthogs Party and more. Parties include 2 “professors” (party facilitators) who make wands, teach wizard skills or a potion- making course with partygoers. Party packages include food and all the set-up, making it super-easy for parents! And, parties for adults are also a big hit. The day I visited the store, staff were getting ready to host a party for Paramount Pictures.
If you have a kid who is fascinated by all things Harry Potter, Whimsic Alley is a must-see!
