The Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica

MomAngeles Ocean view from Fairmont Miramar

Located on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Ocean Drive, the Fairmont Miramar is ideally situated for any oceanside escape. When you arrive at the hotel you’ll be greeted by the most courteous valets, under the canopy of a 100 year old Fig tree, a magnificent miracle of nature where you must take a moment to snap a photo with your friends or family.

You can’t go wrong with any of the room selections. The ocean facing rooms in the tower offer stunning views of the beach and the Santa Monica skyline and depending on which side you’re on, the magnificent Santa Monica Mountains. In true California style, there are also bungalows on the property for those who need a little more privacy or room to spread out. The bungalows are an ideal option for a longer stay. Wander the paths behind the bungalows and you’ll discover quiet sitting areas and a fire pit.

Whether visiting Los Angeles or taking a staycation the hotel has a multitude of options. There is a lovely outdoor pool with plenty of lounge seating, a hot tub and a poolside bar. They offer drink service throughout the afternoon. The hotel lobby bar at the Fairmont is often a scene, with hip Westside locals and business professionals gathering for cocktails in their chic bar environment or on the patio next to the water fall and Koi pond. You can sometimes spot a turtle in there as well.

Don’t miss The Bungalow at the Fairmont, for an uber hip night out, join the throngs of the Westside locals as they sip the latest cocktails in the breezy, beachside lounge. The Bungalow a new paradigm in romantic socializing and creative meeting space for the Westside of Los Angeles.

Hungry? FIG Santa Monica is one of my all-time favorite local restaurants. The restaurant recently underwent a decor update and the lights and plants hanging throughout the ceiling make it feel like you’re dining alfresco in some exotic yet cozy locale. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is derived from Chef Yousef Ghalaini’s years baking and cooking with his grandfather in Lebanon. The fattoush salad, bread balloon and mushroom pasta are not to be missed. Dining there for brunch? Anyone who has eaten there will tell you to order the lemon ricotta pancakes, they are heaven.

FIG also recently opened a Marketplace just outside their restaurant where you can shop for essentials, as well as locally sourced gifts, snacks and wine. You may also order from their To Go menu if you want to take one of their delicious dishes with you.  Other stores include Lloyd’s Barber Shop, Atelier by Edward Avedis and the Glam & Glo blow dry bar.

Looking for an opportunity to unwind? exhale’s award-winning spa therapies and fitness classes inspire guests to revive, restore and transform. By the way, you do not have to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy exhale’s services. You can book appointments in the spa or take classes if you are an exhale member. There is also a fitness area with equipment located just outside the spa on the terrace for hotel guests.
